The ugly part. Annoyed by an article claiming Google Sheets was useless, Andrew Kamphey decided to ship a product in a single day. It was as scrappy as it gets: a Carrd one-pager over a screenshot of a spreadsheet, screen-recordings made in Loom and uploaded straight to Gumroad, sold as a $30 lifetime deal. No app, no course platform, no custom anything.
What he shipped anyway. The whole MVP was that landing page and the line 'Buy Now: $30 Lifetime Access.' It worked well enough to keep going — he added more videos as people asked for them, and went full-time on it.
Now. Better Sheets grew past $100,000 in revenue in about two years, run with a single contractor — built on a Carrd page and a folder of Loom clips.
